Postlude

for clarinet and piano (2019) | Recording: Max Opferkuch and Adam Karelin

Postlude was written in the spring of 2019, in Los Angeles, for Max Opferkuch at the USC Thornton School of Music.

The piece explores continuous devolution in a world that is continuously devolving. By reimagining the classical sonata structure through progressive deterioration, the thematic material disassembles and a recapitulation fails to materialize, as the instruments are left in a world of post-music.
