Klangfarben

Klangfarben was recorded in the summer of 2017 at Tanglewood, by members of the Boston University Tanglewood Institute’s Young Artists Orchestra, and subsequently by Dylan Campbell in the summer of 2018 in Los Angeles.
The piece is an exploration of timbral similarities through a formal progression that begins with a palette of sustains. Percussive sounds then permeate and reorient the texture until short, articulate sounds are presented in a disjunct texture diffused by silence.
